May 16 (Reuters) - UBS Group AG (UBSG.S) expects a financial hit of about $17 billion from the takeover of Credit Suisse Group AG (CSGN.S), the bank said in a presentation early on Wednesday as it prepares to complete the rescue of its struggling Swiss rival.

UBS estimates a negative impact of $13 billion from fair value adjustments of the combined group's assets and liabilities. UBS also sees $4 billion in potential litigation and regulatory costs stemming from outflows, the bank said.

UBS on Thursday posted a second-quarter profit of $28.88 billion in its first quarterly earnings since Switzerland’s largest bank completed its takeover of stricken rival Credit Suisse.

Analysts had projected a net profit of $12.8 billion for the three months to the end of June, according to a Reuters poll.

UBS said the result primarily reflected $28.93 billion in negative goodwill on the Credit Suisse acquisition. Negative goodwill represents the fair value of assets acquired in a merger over and above the purchase price. ZURICH, Jan 17 (Reuters) - UBS's (UBSG.S), opens new tab return on equity may be higher than currently expected, once the integration of its former rival, Credit Suisse, has been completed, its chairman said on Wednesday.
"We have given a 15% target exit ROE at the end of 2026 as a guideline and obviously there may be upside on that," Colm Kelleher said in an interview with Bloomberg in Davos.
Switzerland's largest bank said it will announce a three year strategic plan in February alongside its fourth quarter results.

The bank has been working to integrate its former rival and has began merging teams and reducing the combined bank's employees.
Kelleher, who has in the past spoken out against the culture at Credit Suisse, said the people that UBS has taken on following the takeover have fit in well.
"To a large extent a lot of bad actors had gone," Kelleher said. "The people we have brought in, on the whole it has worked quite well; we have been quite surprised."

UBS on Tuesday announced a new share repurchase program of up to $2 billion, with up to $1 billion of that total expected to take place this year.
